Is there an easy way to distinguish available vs unavailable dates?

Yes, our calendar uses color coding by default. Green means that the date is available, and red means that it is not. You can also change these colors by going to Settings > Calendar Colors. This makes the user experience clear: customers can see at a glance which dates are available for booking.
